This position will be responsible for processing; sample shipment to laboratory clients; data entry into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) or Freezerworks; and sample labeling and tracking. Procedures will be performed in accordance with laboratory Standard Operating Procedures; Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and accrediting agencies to include the College of American Pathology (CAP).
Detailed responsibilities will include the following:
Administrative system management of Master Control software for document control:
Creation; validation; implementation of Standard Operating Procedures; Policies; Procedures per CAP/CLIA/CLIP regulatory requirements;
Administration and use of refrigeration ambient/cold chain thermos-sensor monitoring per CAP/CLIA/CLIP regulatory requirements;
Receipt of specimens from couriers; creation of sample inventory with documentation of the receipt of the samples in accordance with laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) to include appropriate use of specimen rejection criteria and documentation of specimen rejection;
Handling of specimens in accordance with established SOPs including data entry; storage and aliquoting of the specimens; delivery of specimens to testing laboratories and preparation of specimens for shipment to outside laboratories;
Perform routine laboratory instrument maintenance.
Bachelors degree in science; preferably biological or chemical science or lab technology.
1-2 years of lab experience
Documented experience with Laboratory Information Management System (e.g. LabWare)
Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician; ASCP or equivalent certified is preferred
This position requires handling of bio-hazardous materials; and infectious human specimens to include; but not limited to; HIV; Hepatitis B; Hepatitis C; Herpes; HTLV; and syphilis infected material and staff are expected to practice safe handling of infectious materials and hazardous chemicals.
