  • Job Description

    Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.


    1. Performs systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.


    2. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.


    3. Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of systems enhancements.


    4. Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems.


    5. Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.


    6. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves operating/hardware system problems.


    7. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.


    8. Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.


    9. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.


    10. Participates in special projects as required.


    Job Description:


    GDIT has a position for a Cloud Administrator. In this position, you will interact with a variety of DoD Activities. A strong Linux background is essential. A strong understanding of network technologies, such as DNS, NTP, SMTP, and AD is a plus. A willingness to learn Cloud methodologies is desirable as this position primarily works with Amazon Web Services.


    Primary responsibilities will include daily interaction with teammates, O&M maintenance, customer interaction and project work. To see more detailed descriptions, see below:


    Daily interaction with teammates:

    • Emergency break/fix of Cloud services such as NTP, SMTP, Chef, Bastion, ACL, SG, Routes, etc.
    • Monitoring job queue via Remedy, Shared mailboxes, jabber, phone, etc.
    • Elevate unresolved issues to Sr. engineers in a timely manner
    • Attend weekly and other status meetings

     O&M maintenance schedule:

    • Login to AWS console and review cloud trail logs, flow logs, and events
    • Patching of cloud based services such as NTP, SMTP, Chef, Bastion services, etc.
    • Accurately reporting completed work
    • Write/update technical documentation such as SOP, user manuals, system documentation and training materials

     Customer Interaction:

    • Emergency break/fix of Cloud services such as NTP, SMTP, Chef, Bastion, ACL, SG, Routes, etc.
    • Troubleshoot problems and provides customer support
    • Monitoring job queue via Remedy, Shared mailboxes, jabber, phone, etc.
    • Passing unresolved issues to Sr. engineers in a timely manner
    • Login to AWS console and walk-thru access control lists, security groups and routes


    Project Work:

    • Participates in the design and deployment of software and services
    • Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis
    • Prepares comprehensive test plans and conducts tests. 






    Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.


    2-5 years of related systems engineering experience.



    • 1-3 Year Linux/Windows systems administration
    • Emphasis on Linux System Administration
    • Basic understanding of Network technologies such as NTP, SMTP, DNS, and AD
    • Basic understanding of Powershell, Ruby or Bash
    • Basic understanding of Cloud methodologies such as configuration management, automation, continuous integration and continuous development Desired:
    • Basic understanding of Windows
    • AWS Experience using EC2, S3, VPC, and IAM
    • DevOps mindset: Chef, Packer, CI-CD
    • ICD-503 knowledge
    • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications
