  • Job Description

    General Dynamics is immediately seeking an Electronics Technician with SPS 49/maintenance and operations experience on carrier or cruiser. Ideal candidate would have NEC 9610 with service on LPD-17, LHD, or a newer carrier. Primary job will be to support Self Assessment Groom Training (SAGT) and support basic phase training for SSDS Combat System.

     

    Develops, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs for SPS 49 radar customer personnel.

     
    1. Develops, organizes, and conducts classroom and shipboard training on critical SPS-49A (V) radar system as a component of the SSDS.
    2. Supports development and execution of operations and maintenance training programs for AN/SPS-49A(V) Radar and related equipment in support of Fleet training objectives.
    3. Establishes course content and objectives.
    4. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
    5. Maintains records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness.
    6. Updates course documentation on a regular basis to ensure timeliness and relevance.
    7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
    8. Participates in special projects as required.Develops, organizes, and conducts training and educational programs for customer personnel.
    9. Develops, tests, maintains, and delivers moderately complex training programs and related materials in support of customer training objectives.
    10. Establishes and reviews course content and objectives.
    11. Conducts training sessions and develops criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
    12. Conducts research into new training, educational, and multimedia technologies.
    13. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
    14. Participates in special projects as required.
     
     

    Education

    Bachelors Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work/military experience. Electronics technician with 3 years of Fleet Operational and technical experience on SSDS platform specifically working on AN/SPS 49A(V) radar; Desire ET with 9610 NEC; additionally desire (not required) technician with Navy Instructor NEC 9502.

    Qualifications

    3 years of directly related experience in the development and delivery of technical training programs. Experienced Electronics technician from SSDS platform with 23years’ experience in support of AN/SPS-49A(V) Radar to include: Performs organizational and/or intermediate level maintenance or radar; Makes power output checks and minimum discernible signal tests; Checks standing wave ratio; Inspects and locates faulty waveguide and transmission line sections; Aligns RF, IF and video amplifier circuits for malfunctions; and diagnoses symptoms and isolates, localizes and replaces faulty components and parts to restore equipment to optimum operating condition. 1-2 years’ experience as a Combat Systems Training Team Technical member in support of AN/SPS 49A(V) radar systems. Travel required 10-20% of time, must be physically fit enough to embark ship for 5-10 days
