Job Description

The Senior Data Analyst supports the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), Division of Budget and Data, in Washington, DC. Duties include:

  • Respond and fulfill data requests from internal and external agencies
  • Lead data correction efforts to ensure that the users are reporting the required data elements
  • Use Business Objects, SAS, MS Excel (pivot tables) and Access to write queries and run various reports
  • Implement system requirements and other data related requirements
  • Provide technical and database administration support to federal staff and grantees
  • Troubleshoot any end-user technical issues encountered while using the agency system
  • Coordinate with system support and development team on system fixes and data extracts
  • Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to management team
  • Perform data collection and analysis of key data elements from various sources
  • Interpret data results, compiling data into management, routine and ad hoc reports
  • Assist in the presentation of results to data users
  • Develop questionnaires and moderator guides to ensure accuracy of data collection
  • Complete data mining, statistical modeling and numerical optimizations
  • Analyze and report on data trends


Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience.


  • 8-10 years of experience
  • 5 years of experience working as a data analyst
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Expert user of SAS, MS Office (Excel and Access), SQL, Tableau, Power Point
  • Highly motivated and collaborative Strong technical skills Attention to detail (QA/QC)
  • Knowledge of ORR’s populations, refugee programs and services
