Contract: Army G2 ARIES

Position: Sr Engineer, Hardware – Hardware Engineer (L3)

Location: Pentagon                                                                                                                                      





GDIT is seeking candidates to support the US Army G2.  Under the Army Intelligence Information Technology Environment Support (ARIES) task order, the G2 supports numerous Army organizations providing mission critical intelligence tailored to the needs of Army senior leaders throughout the globe.  The ability of these organizations to provide this needed intelligence is dependent on the availability and successful operation of their Information Technology (IT).  The ARIES contract provides IT repair, maintenance, operations, logistics, engineering and cybersecurity services to ensure secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of the organization’s IT systems.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


Hardware Engineer will:

  1. Provide hardware engineering expertise to analyze complex hardware systems, hardware design, architecture, network design and other technical hardware issues
  2. Procure and perform acceptance testing of equipment
  3. Provide hardware maintenance support, both preventative and remedial. Deploy, install, and implement hardware at Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) locations
  4. Prepare specifications for hardware by analyzing documented and derived system requirements
  5. Conduct site surveys
  6. Prepare engineering plans and site Technical Design Packages
  7. Organize and direct hardware installations. Configure (and document configuration of) computers, networking devices and various peripheral equipment
  8. Prepare site installation and test reports. Ensure that problems have been properly identified and solutions will satisfy the user’s requirements
  9. Prepare reports and recommendations concerning existing and emerging hardware technologies
  10. Provide specific input to the hardware components of system design to include end-user devices, servers, networking devices, data storage devices, and specialized processors     
  11. Direct the work of other hardware engineers on projects requiring a variety of hardware engineering activities and tasks


Desirable Skills / Experience:

  1. Plan all phases of hardware projects to include schedules, budgets, and maturation of technical performance parameters
  2. Work closely with system engineering and test engineering to develop and validate the hardware portion of test plans, test procedures, throughput models, failure analysis, and risk analysis. Develop proposals for the Program Manager to reduce or avoid customer costs in up-front acquisition costs or operational/disposal costs
  3. Organize and direct teams to address critical system failures that potentially derive from hardware component failure or misconfiguration




  1. DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contract
  2. Required Security Environment Certification: CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent
  3. Desired Computing Environment Certification: ITIL V3 Foundation, or MCSA


Security Clearance:

TS/SCI required



Additional Qualifications:

  1. Candidates must be willing and able to attain a CI Polygraph for certain positions as determined by the contract
  2. Position may require lifting of objects (i.e. IT hardware), reaching/bending/kneeling (i.e. plug in cables) and other moderately strenuous activity


High School diploma/GED with 10 years of related experience, or Associate’s degree with 8 years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience, or Master’s degree with 4 years of experience


5-8 years of related hardware engineering experience
