Job Description

The Clinical Engineer (Medical Devices) will be responsible for reviewing, compiling and analyzing medical data for use in determining quality of care, level of care and standards of care decisions. Information is provided for use by Office of The Surgeon General (OTSG) staff, hospital staff and modality managers.

 

Travel is expected, and will be for collaboration with Army hospital staff, OTSG consultants, DFA staff, DHA staff, site visits, industry visits, conference attendance and presentations, and receive education on innovation from industry.

 

  • Clinical Engineer required to provide biomedical engineering support to our client agency’s Program Management Office and other supported agencies.
  • Review, compile, and analyze medical equipment data for use by multiple agencies, enabling educated decisions on the quality, level and standards of care. Activities include, but are not limited to collaboration with multiple agencies staff, conducting site and industry visits, attending conferences and presentations, and receive education on innovation from industry.
  • Analyze medical equipment based off of maintenance data, usage data, technology standards, life-cycle data. Ensure that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards.
  • Provide input and written reports, evaluations and recommendations for supported fixed facility hospitals on their standard of care.
  • Create and evaluate Systems Requirements Documents (SRD’s) for medical equipment purchase criteria within each Request for Offer packages (RFO). Evaluate RFO package selections for equipment purchases through the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
  • Apply pertinent laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and work processes to requirements involving the major issues and goals and objectives for product development and product life cycle support.
  • Assist with design, development, safety testing, repair, and maintenance of biomedical equipment.
  • Conduct Technology Assessment & Requirements Analysis (TARA) field support trips annually.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in a field relating to electrical, clinical, or biomedical studies.
  • Experience or education in health care is desired.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • U.S. Army biomedical equipment repair/clinical engineering/TARA team experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal communications and facilitation skills with all levels of authority.
  • U.S. or Naturalized Citizenship required.
  • Ability to pass a National Agency Check with Local Checks (NACLC)
