Job Description

Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

 

1. Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.

 

2. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.

 

3. Plans upgrades of operating systems and designs systems enhancements.

 

4. Develops documentation on new or existing systems.

 

5. Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.

 

6. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.

 

7. Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.

 

8. Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

 

9. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibility.

 

10. May serve as a technical team or task lead.

 

11. Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.

 

12. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

 

13. Participates in special projects as required.

 

 

 

Education

Required Education: BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or other related field.

Qualifications

10-15 years of related systems engineering experience.

 

Architect II – Enterprise

Minimum/General Experience: Five (5) years of experience of which at least three (3) years must be specialized. Specialized experience includes: participation on or lead of a technical project delivery team; use of structured analysis, design methodologies and design tools; facilitation of workshops with subject matter experts (SMEs) for information gathering; application of object oriented principles, and experience with the logical and physical, functional, operational, systems, and technical architecture of complex information systems. Hands-on experience generating DODAF models/artifacts especially OV-6 business process models. Experience facilitating sessions with business users to generate As-Is and To-Be Business Process models. Have in-depth knowledge of DoDAF architecture and the inter-relationships of their components and may hold a professional architecture certification. Expert in at least one architecture information management software tool (ARIS preferred). Military Medical logistics domain knowledge (business acumen, terminology, processes) a big plus. Hands-on experience generating DODAF models/artifacts especially OV-6 business process models.

Functional Responsibility: Applies knowledge of architecture practices, concepts, and techniques to develop and implement solutions to business problems affecting multiple organizational units or functional areas. Uses scientific and engineering logic, automated tools, and subject matter expert interaction to identify conceptual or theoretical solutions to complex business process problems. Implements optimum solutions balancing specific project needs with economic constraints. Develops project plans, justifications, guidelines, and controls with broad organizational impact.   Leads and/or coordinates the activity of other architects. Able to adapt structured processes for practical use in supporting stakeholders with minimal guidance.
