Job Description

The Task Manager will oversee personnel and activities supporting the Cyber Policy and Standards Program. Interfaces and coordinates with Government leads with key focus on effective, efficient, and compliant contractor support. The position supports the customer with guidance and development for new and existing cybersecurity policies and standards for the Department and Foreign Affairs agencies; developing and providing guidance on the  information systems security policy and standards; responsibilities include Department representation and coordination of National level policies and guidance. Support the customer with exception requests for standards and policies within the Directorate of Cyber and Technology Security’s scope of authority. Responsible for coordinating responses to user questions and inquiries about policy received via cables, memos, emails and phone calls.



  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Telecommunications, or other related scientific or technical discipline is desirable with five years of general experience (as defined below); or a Master’s degree with three years of general experience.


Certifications Desired:  CISSP 



General Experience: Experience in developing and presenting cyber policy and standards with increasing responsibilities. Demonstrated oral and written communications skills. 

  • Good working knowledge of cybersecurity policies for new and emerging technologies (e.g., IoT, cloud, mobile, social media), software, hardware, and general IT platforms.
  • Ability to coordinate policies and memos across a large Federal government department.
  • Participation and SME support with in inter-agency working groups
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and tasks with a global set of stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of information security management standards and frameworks such as NIST,FISMA, CNSS, and DoD)
  • Experience in researching, developing, writing, and editing cybersecurity policies, best practices, standards, processes and procedures
  • Experience in research and analysis of information system issues and trends, and research and development in a technical discipline/field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills; research, analysis, and writing skills
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively relate to agency and customer needs; ability to build working relationships with leaders and key stakeholders
  • Familiarity with the Department of State’s mission and work with global cybersecurity policies is preferred
