Job Description:

Performs network and systems analysis. Diagnoses and resolves hardware, software, firmware and network protocol problems. Designs, installs, and implements new network devices on a variety of networks. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Configure, troubleshoot and administer Audio/Visual and VTC systems
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, etc)
  • Participate in network requirements analysis and design related to LANs and WANs
  • Configure and installs Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewalls, VPN Concentrators and Security appliances for access to vital customer applications
  • Perform network field engineering activities in accordance with project/exercise plans & designs
  • Perform configuration management to include ports, protocols and services
  • Conduct extensive networking troubleshooting on various military networks
  • Performs data capture of network traffic during exercises and provides analysis and recommendations
  • Create Plant in Place (PIP) diagrams for internal customer networks
  • Conducts network monitoring (using remote management software such as SolarWinds)
  • Perform software upgrades for network devices, updates anti-virus software and pushes updates to devices as needed
  • Maintain all fiber and copper cables to include uniform installation and labeling
  • Monitor encryption devices and ensure all encryption keys are properly maintained




Relevant router, switch, firewall and VTC installation, configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting experience.



Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.



5-8 years of related systems engineering experience.
